Our Vision
A green Khartoum cared for by its residents, where trees and flowers are a natural part of every street, school and square.
Who we are, why we work, and how we work.
Khartoum Is Green is a youth-led volunteer initiative born from a simple belief: a city changes when its residents take the first step. We plant trees and flowers along main streets, in schools and in public squares, care for them as they grow, and involve the community every step of the way.
The initiative is led by a team of young volunteers from different backgrounds, united by one goal: a greener, more beautiful and healthier Khartoum.
A green Khartoum cared for by its residents, where trees and flowers are a natural part of every street, school and square.
Planting and caring for trees and plants in public spaces, and building a community culture of environmental care through volunteering and partnerships with schools and institutions.
Every project is documented with photos and numbers so partners and the community can follow what we achieve.
It started with a conversation between friends about the state of the streets after summer, and a simple question: why don't we start?
The first ten volunteers joined through friends and social media, and we agreed on the first planting site.
We planted our first neem tree on a side street. It was small, but it was the beginning.
Our first complete project: the Africa Road median — 60 trees and 22 volunteers over four work days.
We launched the school-greening programme with school administrations and students, so students themselves care for the plants.
Today the team has more than a hundred volunteers, projects in several neighbourhoods, and a network of schools and supporters.

You don't need experience. You don't need a lot of time. You only need the will to make your city better.
